Following the floods the Estes Park area experienced four weeks ago, many residents and business owners were left wondering, “What do I do?”
By the same token, there were many people in and around Estes Park who wanted to help, and were left asking, “What CAN I do?”
Many pitched in to help in true Mountain Strong fashion, whether it was in the form of helping residents and businesses clean up from the mess, feeding volunteers, or working together with their neighbors to fix what the floodwaters had devastated.
For the owners of Rocky Card, Inc., the decision as to how they could help was obvious: donate money to the flood relief.
There are many organizations fundraising to help those affected by the flood, and Debra Dullaghan and Anne Smith chose to give $4,000 from summer Rocky Card Sales to the Estes Park fund established by the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado. This fund will be used to support other nonprofit agencies and governmental entities in Estes Park for intermediate and long-term recovery.
One of the benefits of giving to this fund is through the end of October, the Bohemian Foundation of Fort Collins will match individual donations up to a total of $250,000 for the Estes Park fund established for flood relief. Donors do not have to be residents of Larimer County to have their gifts matched.
The generous matching offer means locals and visitors who purchased Rocky Cards over the summer will help provide $8,000 toward helping Estes Park businesses and residents get back on their feet.
